I just discovered this newsgroup so please forgive me if this has been
covered before.

Is it possible to burn a photo collection to a CD-RW and then play them in a
DVD player on my TV (not the player in my pc) either as a slide show or
mannually advanced for viewing?

A second question: I recently purchased (because it was so cheap so i
thought it was worth a try) the software called "DVD Ripper Media Suite" by
COSMI Corporation. Is it any good?

Thanks

Johnny

You cannot play a CD-RW in a DVD player.
You must copy to a CD-R. This will work in most recent DVD player.
The picture quality on your TV will be OK, not great.
To get better quality use software to make a VCD on a CD-R.

Sorry, I don't know anything about the software you purchased.

Yes, I m sure about a CD-R.
1. You can copy .jpg pictures to a CD-R and this CD-R will work in your DVD
player, provided that your DVD player can read it. Not all DVD players can
do this. You have to look at your manual. If it says something like can play
photo CDs. Kodak CDs, will read JPEGS etc. it will work.
In my opinion, this is not worth doing. The quality of the picture on your
TV will be mediocre. Not worth doing.
2. You can copy .jpg picture to a CD-R using software to make a VCD. Lots of
software to do this. You can try Roxio 6. Again, your DVD player must be
able to play a VCD. So look if it can. Picture quality will be much better.
Worth doing
3. You can copy .jpg pictures to a DVD-R or DVD+R disk. Again you must check
that your DVD player can play this. In order to do this, you now need a DVD
drive, not a CD drive. A DVD drive is now about $300.00.
And you need the software to create the copy. Again Roxio software will do
this (and so many others, just use the one you like, they all have their
plus and minus)
Now this is really worth doing. The quality of the displayed picture on your
TV will be great, provided that you start with pictures from a 2 MP or above
camera and your TV is of good quality. I you have a new plasma or LCD TV,
look out. JPEGs from a DVD-R or DVR+R disks, using a good DVD player =
Great picture show on your TV.
