CD-RW Recording

I can not burn data to a CD-RW anymore. I can burn to a regular CD. What's
going on. I get an error message stating "CANNOT COMPLETE THE CD WRITING
WIZARD.
THERE WAS AN ERROR IN THE WRITING PROCESS. THE DISC YOU HAVE ATTEMPTED TO
WRITE MAY NO LONGER BE USABLE"

Hello,

Have you tried a different CD-RW? It could be that the CD-RW life is
reaching its end (most likely)

It is also possible that the CD-RW Writer is reaching end of life. To
verify, try doing the burning in another drive, like a laptop burner and see
whether it succeeds. (least likely)

I have tried several CD-RW with different capacities and speeds. I've played
with the speed setting for my drive from 1X all the way up 24X. I have 3
computers, the CD-RW burns fine in all but my laptop. Laptop burner stopped
burning CD-RW OCT 2006 but still burns to regular CD, it still reads
CD-RW,CD, and DVD.

Hello,

Yes - it is still possible that your laptop's CD-RW writer's laser is
reaching end of life.

CD-RW's require stronger laser strength which can explain why you can still
burn to CD-R.

Yes, I guess it is, considering my HP laptop is almost 4.5 yrs old. I'll be
upgrading hard drive and cd rom soon. Thanks for all the help.
