cd-rw drive

has anyone ever had there cd-rw drive just disappear from
the computer? well today i went to use my cd-rw drive and
it is nowhere to be found the drive wont even open.... i
went into my computer to where the drives are and it isnt
even there only one there is my dvd rom drive... any idea
on wot to do? i havent even had this computer for 2 yrs
yet and dont use this drive very much so i dont think it
could be burned out yet!!! this is driving me crazy
someone plzzzzz help... thanks for any input on this.

But i didnt uninstall anything i didnt change nothing on
my computer... it was working fine the day before now its
just gone

open up the case (with computer off) and check for loose connections at the power, and ribbon connections on the drive and motherboard
 
well the drawer opens now but still the drive isnt
detected at all on my computer its nowhere : (

Thanks Rich but this isnt it either :( i dont think ill
ever get this fixed guess it looks like ill have to take
it to a repair shop i even uninstalled the cd rom drive
and tried to have the computer install on restart but
still only reinstalled the cd rom drive no cd rw drive.
