CD-RW Drive Will Not Recognize Disks

When I boot my computer, the CD-RW drive door opens. When a CD is inserted
and the door closed, the activity light flashes for about 5 seconds then the
drawer reopens. If I select the drive from "My Computer" is says insert
disk. When that's done, the drawer reopens after 5 seconds. I've tried two
different drives with the same results. The "Device Manager" shows the
hardware is operating properly. I have followed the "Troubleshooting" guide
without any success. What's wrong? Driver corrupted? How would I remove
and reinstall drivers for the drive?
