The issue is the CD drive only plays the CD that is in it
when it boots. If I have an audio CD in the drive when I
boot the PC, and I eject the disc and put in another audio
CD, or a data CD, I get an error message stating that that
drive is not accessible. Whatever disc is in the drive
when I boot will run with no problems, but I can’t switch
without booting.

Thank you for any help, Norman

Hello,

Thank you for your responce, but unfortunately this is a
replacement CD Drive, and the original one had the same
problem. When I check the properties in Device Manager it
states that it is running correctly. I also tried to
uninstall and reinstall and the results are the same. I
don’t see any conflicts and I don’t receive any errors
when I boot.

Thank you, Norman

Hello

Sound like you may have a registry issue now since you
have replaced the drive but you did not mention that in your
message but sounds more like an registry issue

Hi, Norman.

Perhaps the cable is defective and does not properly relay the Disk Change
or Door Open signals?

Floppy drives sometimes have the same problem. :>(
