CD Rom

Can anyone tell me why both my CD Rom and CDRW are both running very slowly?

They both take ages to start reading a disk and if I run a performance test
they score really low

Both drives are on the same bus but worked well previously, as I recently
reformatted my hard drive I think the problem may have started from there

DMA should be enabled on both drives.

In the CDRom section of the above site why does it say " Don'T" use
Audio CD cleaner disks" ?
