Majid

for some reason windows is not recognizing either of my cd
drives. they were working fine and yesterday they just
disappeared. i've tried uninstalling them through the
device manager, also i try to update the driver but no
luck.. any suggestions would be
great. thanks

Same thing has happened to me. I tried doing everything
including removing the drivers and doing a complete re-
install. No luck yet. Let me know if you find out what the
fix is. I'll do the same.

If you did not install any software or hardware or update anything, then my
suggestion would be to make sure the cable that your CD drives are connected
to is firmly seated at both the drives and motherboard/controller. Are the
drives IDE or SCSI and are they on the same controller channel?

check if CDROM is detected during POST(when comp boots)...if no,check the
ide cables and bios settings and if yes,let windows redetect CDROM through
