I have a Pentium 4 with Windows XP Professional 2.4GZ 512DDR and a 52X
CD-Rom.

The problem that I am having is that when I open the CD-Rom it
immediately closes back not giving me a chance to insert the CD into the
CD-Rom. If I am fast enough to get the CD into the CD-Rom before it
closes everything than works normal. I never had this problem before and
it just started a few days ago. How can I get the CD-Rom to stay open
until I close it manually. Thank you very much for your time.

Sincerely: Albert

1) Don't try to beat it. If you get the disk in crooked, you can jam the
drive. Worse, off balanced CD have been known to explode.

2) Try a different method... What happens if you open My Computer or
Windows Explorer, right click on the drive and choose Eject?

Some of the CD burning programs are awful possessive about controlling the
tray. *Maybe* this workaround will help you out. If it doesn't, you may
want to get the drive checked. It's nice that it is so responsive but it
shouldn't behave as if it had a hair trigger!
