Yes I can confirm that a CDRW will play a normal CDR as per normal

Think of a CDRW as a newer version of a CD ROM, in that the CDRW can do all the functions that a CDROM can do.

Hope this clears your doubts

As psd99 said.

Go for the Samsung CDRW.

Or, for around thirty quid, get the Samsung CDRW/DVDROM combi drive, it's a goodie.

Just get one drive ... LiteOn SOHW-1653S-02C 16x Dual Format & Double Layer (RTL) ... for under £50

It will read/write anything. ;)

Sounds like a plan. Though we've gone from sixteen quid to fifty quid in one leap.

On going thing, this one. Lottsa people post here asking for a solution within a budget. I try to suggest something within that budget. I seem to be the only one who does that. Yes, I know what I suggest often y'all gonna turn up your noses at, and say 'Don't get that, this is so much better'.

But.

If peeps ask for something within a budget, I'll stick to it.

You do only get what you pay for. There is no free lunch.

Aw hell, maybe I should join the club and tell peeps their budget is crap and recommend something good but more expensive.

Funny old world.

The area this happens the most often in is video cards. People love to recommend video cards costing £200.00 to £400.00 when the budget stated is often only £120.00 or so.

Ah, maybe it's me. Mr Sourpuss.

I give up.

So what you want? Good advice within your budget? Or telling you your choice is rubbish and spend more?

Think about it.

And no, Mucks, that's not directed at you, it's a reaction to lots of posts here over the last six months :(

Guilty ...

I actually didn't notice a budget ... :o

... and I still have no idea why I bought a DVDRW, I've only used it twice. :o

:D

I don't know but someone who's gonna spend THAT much on other parts could very well give 30-40 quid plus. And 10+16=26quid
But I have to agree that suggestions very often go out of budget...
