Can anyone help me please!! My cd rom doesn't seem to be reading but the dvd
is working fine. When I put a cd in the green light comes on, it makes a
noise then just starts flashing and doesn't read it. The device manager says
its working properly so Im a bit lost. I was using it yesterday copying some
cd's and it was fine, then I tried to burn a cd and the message it keep
getting is insert a cd or cd/rw, but I have. Please anyone!!!

Do you mean you have a separate CD and DVD player ?

If so, clean the lens of the CD player with a special CD lens cleaner. Try
the same CD in both units. If the DVD player reads it and the CD player
doesn't, then its probably knackered. Bin it, you don't really need both.
Or buy another.

Cheers,
Jerry

Thanks for your reply, no my computer is only 11 months old and I've got a
DVD/RW & CD RW all in one.(hope that makes sense) Its definately reading and
playing the dvd's but nothing on the cd's. Do you think it just might need a
clean?
Thanks

I have exactly the same issue my Sony CDRW-DVDROM combo drive will play DVDs
but not recognise data or audio CDs. In troubleshooting my computer also
tells me my device is working properly.
The error report tells me that on Jan 1st:
The device,\ Device\ CDRom0, has a bad block.
Unfortunately it does not tell me how to fix this.
Any ideas anyone?

Yes that is exactly the same message I got. It doesn't tell you how to fix
in though...My computer is like 2 weeks out of warranty, so the company
aren't interested in helping without getting some form of payment to send a
tech. out. Any solutions would be wonderful.

Hi All,

I am in exactly the same situation with the same message coming up. Have
you come up with anything further on how to fix it. The thing I can add to
this is that my errors started when i moved house and changed interent
suppliers.

would be very grateful if you could help me

My computer is only 9 months old -- they have put 4 DVD readers in it to get
it to work -- I sent it back to Toshebia and it worked for a short time --
now I can play music, music, but not burn disk or read CD's -- I've tried
everything I know and called for support from Toshebia but they say it is a
software problem -- I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to this -- can
anyone help?
