My cd-rom won't read any disk I put in.It started when I uninstalled my
printer and then tried to reinstall it from the disk.(printer was not working
properly)Now I can't do anything from a disk.I was told I may to to update
drivers but,I don't know how to find out which ones to update.I hope I've
made myself clear and maybe someone can advise.Thank you very much for any
help

In these days, latest operating system do not required CD-ROM drivers as they
are automatic installed. I don't think that updating your drivers can make
your CD-ROM read disc. Try cleaning your CD-ROM lens using a Disk Cleaner CD.
If it is under warranty, replace it.

sounds like corrupt windows.run scan disk (error ck) make sure u ck mark
"automataly fix" if that dosn't fix run disk defrag then "ck disk surface"
whice will take hrs.if still nothing its time to reinstall windows.
zero out the drive to kill virus and condition drive.

This is a nonsense answer and is destructive advice. The OP has been
correctly answered by "rajkohli". The OP could try cleaning the drive
as "rajkohli" suggested, but with cd-rom drives selling for under
$20usd I'd just replace it. Better still, replace it with a dvd-rom
which sells for just a few dollars more.

if you are using Mcaffee antivirus,,,un install mcaffee, cd rom drivers,
reboot, reinstall drivers and then reinstall mcaffee......there is a virus
currently circulating that targets mcaffee and causes printer and other
device problems

In hadenuf had this to say:

My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:

In addition to the other advice;

This is USUALLY for missing the drives completely but also works if the
problem is simply currupted upperfilters and/or lowerfilters:

Missing CD/DVD Drives:

Give it a shot.

MALKE: the guy said he was haveing a problem BEFORE the cd problem.before
the cd the printer wasn't working. the cd was off.the
printer not working.that was the problem.THEN when he tryed to fix
THAT problem 2nd problem came up with the cd.
