Hi, hope someone can help me...I notice other people have lost there CD Rom
also but afraid mine does not fix itself after rebooting. It does not show up
at all in my device manager..no ! marks anywhere. How do you reinstall it
when you are unable to access the cdrom/dvd player?

First check to see if there is anything unusual in the BIOS setup. If not
then:

Shut your PC down, remove the power plug and IDE cable from the CD Rom (take
not of the orientation of the red wire on both cables).
Reboot to windows then shut Windows down again, With the PC powered off
re-attach both cables and boot to Windows again.
Windows should report that it has found new hardware and reinstall any
required drivers.

What would you say is unusual in BIOS? Not sure I want to rip laptop apart
to pull out cables? Little paranoid! lol Was hoping someone would have an
easy fix..but so far all the suggestions I have found re registry and lost
drive fixes have not worked. Help

Sorry, I didn't know it's a laptop.
