cd rom missing

I accidently restarted my computer and when i turned it
back on the cd player didnt work and there was no cd icon
in the my computer folder. please help
 
The timing of the failure may indicate a dead drive but you need to
provide more info. Look in the Device Manager and see what the error
message is. (WinKey+Break, Hardware, Device Manager) Also will the
door/tray slide out and in, and if so does the lite on the front show
any activity if a disc is inserted?

sorry, the tray does work and the light does go on but

the computer thinks it doesnt have a cd player.
the error message says that there is something wrong with

the driver but i reinstalled it.
