Can anyone solve this problem ...anyone at all???? The
Techies should be able to solve this one blindfolded!!! My
CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drives just disappear from my computer
and from windows explorer, the power supplied to them is
shut down, making opening and closing imposible without
the help of my friendly screwdriver!!! This has happened
before but i just rebooted half a dozen times and the
drives reappeared!! Now though..it's been over a dozen
times and still my drives are lost in my computer
somewhere...no viruses either!!! NAY!!!! Any clues??
Matt

Normally I am not upset about posts but since you posted 4 times within an
hour you probably won't get any help now from here. No one here works for
you as your own private slave. You should do your own research.

I would recommend you search:
1. Google for disappearing CD-ROM drive and;
2. Microsoft's web site for the same topic.

It is a well documented problem with many fixes. Just search.

Hi;

You're getting an adverse/negative reaction from peoples you
rightfully(!!!???) believe are obligated to fix everything for YOU.
Pestering is no way to go about it here.

Read numerous previous posts and threads about the same query.
Try some of the hints/soluces offered.

Stop posting this problem so many times!!!! At least it will allow others
to come up with a solution to your original post, instead of having it
scroll out of the newsgroup.

The problem seems to be that you might be missing the upper/lower filter
setting for those units. Take a look at these:

I'm sorry if it seems like pestering but i have been on
this newsgroup before and others like me have asked the
same question but to no avail....none of the past threads
seem to have any answers to any questions so it seems
that this newsgroup isn't being RUN but is just HERE for
people with problems to congrugate!

You got, this newsgroup is just here! It is not a paid or
free tech support service.

That being said, try this...
Open device manager
Find the IDE controllers and the CD/DVD drive and remove
them.
Reboot.

Your problem should be solved.
