Your problem ok cd player does not show up on your system
you might try the following.
1. Check your bios settings simple i know but worth a look
2. Check out the support database cuz somtimes when you
upgarde to xp or xp pro the drivers and buffer settings
for optical drives can be damaged or overwritten with the
drivers that windows suggests.
3. check your registry settings for the upper and lower
buffer limits on your cd drive they might be set to low
in which case a simple delete of upper and lower budffers
might cure the problem.
4. you could go onto the cd drive manufactures web site
and download the latest firmware. running the firmware
helps update and improves performance but dooooo read the
instructions on installation to the letter else you could
damage the chip in the cd drive and then it is game over.
