CD-Rom Drive

Can anyone help

I am currently borrowing a pc while over seas. The CD-Rom
drive appears to have crashed. The CD-Rom drive does not
work I therefore cannot reload driver back onto system.
Can I down load new driver onto system and get CD-Rom
working? I am currently using windows '98, what software
would I need to download?
