Just got a new computer, Acer with windows vista.. however when I put a cd in
or a dvd in to play nothing happens.. I've checked to see that it is set up
to automatically play or download or such (in the control panel).. this does
not seem to work. Anything I have forgotten to do, or need to redo? This
computer is brand new, not even a week old! Anyone out there who can help
out, this would be great.. Like I said, it won't download, play or even show
that I've got a cd-rom drive.. Why is this?

It did this out of the box? If yes, take it back for replacement.

Just a double check:

In Control Panel-Hardware and Sounds-Autoplay for the entry "Software and
Games" did you select Install or run program from the dropdown list?
