Hi All,

Does anyone know why my CD Drive randomly and rapidly
ejects (and inserts itselfs) like it's being possessed?

No CD burning or any other software is running at the
time. Nothing jammed in the drive. Drivers are up to
date. No new hardware installed recently. No viruses
found with NIS. Very random - very annoying (autoplay
pops up).

Many thanks,
Will

Usually means it's near the end of its life. When was the last time use
cleaned it out with some compressed air - carefully!

the only thing I can think of is a virus, or possibly spyware, besides that, try cleaning it
Download Ad-aware and Spybot from download.com...

Do you have your firewall turned on? You might see if you
have a prankster who has control of your computer remotely
or if a joke program has been installed. It might not show
as a virus, but the difference is just that a joke program
doesn't replicate and send itself around.

Check the task manager/applications and services tab to see
if there is something fishy.
