Recently my CD-rom drive has, for reasons unknown to myself, been uninstalled. I do not know whether i have accidentally done this whilst preforming another action on my computer, but whatever the case i do not know how to reinstall it and would like some assistance.

Make sure your drive cables are hooked up correctly, power / IDE cables

I hope this helps

Thanks

Sorry i dont exactly know computers very well so i dont really know how to do what you've said. All the cables for the computer are hooked up and everything is working properly.

Any other ideas?

Right click on My Computer and select "Manage" from the list
In the Computer Management console, look for Disk Management in the list on
the left and click on it. A list of attached disk drives is shown in the
right hand pane. See if it's listed in there and if so, right click and
select properties so you can change the drive assignments.

Also, check Device Manager. Accessed from the Hardware tab of the System
Properties dialog box which is opened from Control Panel. "DVD/CD Rom
Drives" should be listed in the Device manager window if Windows is aware
that you have one, the name of your CD player should be a sub item under it.

Finally, check cables as the other responder said. You have to open the
computer case to do that. Look for the data and power cables attached to the
back of the player and check they're plugged in properly.
