Hi all
My cd rom drive just disappeared from windows explorer, I
can't access it. It's like if it does not exist. It works
physically (I can open and close it).
I did already uninstall and reinstall. I can see on
device manager that it is not working properly. I think
the problem may be with the driver, but after a reinstall
the drive is the same (it's a windows XP driver). Anyone
has any idea of can I do to solve this situation?

Right click my computer>manage>disk management. Look for
the drive in the right pane. If it shows up right click
on it and select change drive letter and path. The rest
is easy. If you have problems with this you could also
try plugging the drive into another system. If it doesn't
work there it's probably fried. Also check the drive
manufacturers site for any firmware updates and see if
they address this issue in the release notes.

Thank you for your replay.
There is no cd rom drive in my computer>manage>disk
management. It is like if the drive does not exist for
windows.
I have already tried this drive on another computer and
it works fine. I have tried another drive in this
computer and is has the same problem.
On device management>properties I found this
error: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this
hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code
39)".
This driver has been working fine so far (until last
week). I have already looked for a new driver from the
manufacture, but there isn't. The driver is installed
with windows XP.
