CD-ROM and CD-R Drives not recognized! HELP!

[Matt the CD-ROM Challenged]

I just installed Windows XP Home Edition, and now both of
my CD-ROM and CD-R drives are missing from the My Computer
menu! I put in CDs, and autorun doesn't work. I can't burn
disks with my adaptec product either. Is there an easy eay
I can get my drives back? Microsoft just needs to
recognise that there are 2 CD drivers installed. If there
ISN'T an easy way to do it, could somebody walk me through
the process step-by-step? As my name (hopefully) conveys,
I'm not much of a techie, so swallow the jargon and let's
talk human to human(Via email or response that is).

If you have a version of EZCD Creator that's earlier than v5, it is NOT
compatible with XP and should be uninstalled.

EZ cd-creator 5 also needs the updates at their site installed or it won't
operate reliably.
