Every time I search for CD+R, (Google, Wikipedia, etc.) all I get is
references to CD-R. I use the CD-R myself but chatting around the coffee
shop, questions come up about the differences. (I know this has come up
before many times.)

Where can I find information about the differences if any?

Hmm, aren't the plus/minus formats only in dvd media?

Thanks, Don, you are right. And Google searching DVD-R and DVD+R each
produced a number of results. I'll check out the difference between these
with no problem. I use the DVD-R but the specs on my burner says either
works.

For whatever reason, on DVD media, I have always used the +R media, mainly
Verbatim, with good success.

Hi Dave,

DVD+R is a newer format and is therefore incompatible with older devices:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD-R#Competing_formats

DVD+R(W) has supposedly better error management and is less prone to
errors at higher speeds.

New CD/DVD drives can read both DVD+R(W) and DVD-R(W) formats though I am
sure if you look hard enough you can find a new drive that only does one
or the other.

however i've found that support for DVD+RW, at least in WinXP, is much more
freaky than of DVD-RW
