After installing XP Pro on my pc I seem to have lost the
use of my CD-R drive to record ( backup programs, CD
burning etc ) .. ( still reads cd's ) I had trouble
finding a driver compatible with my hardware and am
really unsure as to why this happened. My CDR-RW drive
is a Matshita 7586 and worked fine with Windows ME .. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

Try any version of Nero higher than 5.0.0.8. The Matsushita CW-7586 8x4x32x
is supported.

Hi, go to Admin tools>services and see if IMAPI cd-
burning is set to automatic.
XP comes with many drivers built in already perhaps it
will still work without loading anymore?
Good luck

Have you looked at the properties of the drive in My Computer. There is a
Recording tab, check to see if the box is checked that says "enable cd
recording on this drive".
