Hi all, can someone tell me how to activate my CD/DVD player? Recently, I've
inserted a CD and my drive doesn't even register on MY COMPUTER. Is there a
way to check to see if my CD drive is activated?

Hi MK

You could have a look in device manager (click start, control panel, double
click system, hardware, device manager) and double click DVD/CD Rom drives,
however if this is the only CD/DVD drive in your pc and it is not recognised
then you won't see this at all.

If it appears in device manager then Windows itself recognises the drive,
the fact that it is not showing up in My Computer is strange because by
default (unless a drive is disabled) any drive which uses removable media
such as a DVD or CD-ROM drive or even a RAM Stick will show up here provided
it is working correctly.

If it does not appear in device manager which is what I am thinking then
chances are it is either not connected correctly inside the PC, the IDE
channel it is on is not enabled in the BIOS or the CD/DVD drive is faulty.

Have you added any other hardware inside the PC latley and have knocked a
cable I wonder?

Hope some of this helps.
Good Luck
