CD not found in MovieMaker

This is a continuation of the posts for 9/25. I have the exact problem.
When I try to save my movie to CD I get the message there is disk in drive.
Well there is!

The end of July, I had no problems with this and made many CDs from
moviemaker.

I have one now I'm trying to copy and it's getting frustrating. I went thru
the steps John Kelly suggested and I also don't have the "tab".

I did download SP XP a few weeks ago (after having made successful CDs).
When I ask for my version of Movie Maker I read: Version 5.1 (Build
2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158; Service Pack 2) Version 2.1.4026.0

I would like to download the utility Fix It that John Kelly created, but it
sounds quite a serious step. If I do a "restore" point before doing so, and
there are problems after downloading, can I restore by using the latest
restore point? (I mean, will it correct the registry back to pre-Fix it?)

Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully someone can answer
all my questions.

Sigh,

I believe you have been advised by Mr Brown about your conduct and inflamatory
remarks Rehan.

Yes......deary me Mr. Brown, Comments Please.

Hello there,

Sorry I have been away for a few days.

Please ignore the comments by the person rehan.

As you are concerned that what the utility "Fix-It" does is a big step then it
must be obvious that editing the registry your self is a MASSIVE step.

All that Fix-It does is give you that ability to toggle on or off the Auto load
feature in Movie Maker....there is nothing clever about what it does and it is
Hugely safer to do than edditing the Registry file your self...with Fix-It you
simply can not make a mistake, and as you are already concerned it must be the
prefered way of dealing with that issue as compared to the very large damage
you can do by mistake when editing the registry.

So as I said earlier. Please ignore the remarks by rehan which can only be
considered antagonistic and of no help to a person who displays genuine concern
about messing with the registry.

Hello John, and thank you for responding.

I went to your web site and read what others have said about the Fix It and
decided to bite the bullet and install it. I'm having a problem with it
however. After checking which drive I wished to make known as R RW, I get a
window (burgandy in color) which tells me to click "ok" or "X".

I clicked the "ok" and it takes me back to the window where I am to select
the drive, and of course, it's check, so click "ok" and again get the
burgandy box. It seems to be going in circles and the only other choice I
have is to quit.

I'm obviously doing something wrong. Can you give me some direction?

Thanks, bizzeedee

Hello there,

Can you direct me to what others have said that has caused you some
concern....it would be helpfull so that I can ammend the program as necessary
if needed.

I went to your web site and read what others have said about the Fix It and
decided to bite the bullet and install it. I'm having a problem with it
however. After checking which drive I wished to make known as R RW, I get a
window (burgandy in color) which tells me to click "ok" or "X".

I think you perhaps mean OK or Abort yes??

The burgundy window is a scrolling text window in which you can rewad the
following....

You may change the Drive Type by selecting from the drop down list below. The
change
will not occur until you click the OK button.

Remember that you are doing this at your own risk.

It is entirely up to you. If you choose to change what type of CD drive it is
and you have
not made certain your choice is correct you may make the drive unusable.

It can of course be changed a second or third time.

Remember though that you are doing this at your own risk.

Did you read this text? was it available to read? Did you read the text
immediately above the bergundy section that described what "type" windows
thought you had, what does it say?

The utility will not do anything unless you select what "Type" you want the
drive to become (you believe it really is rather than what windows thinks it
is) Once you click OK the change is made and you are returned to the main
window, perhaps I should add an additional dialog to confirm the change...but
in the meantime to check what the drive has become you can again navigate to
that window where you will be told what Windows "sees"

I'm sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear. I read nothing but rave reviews on the
fix it patch and that is why I've tried to download it. But like I said, I
can't get the program to complete past the click "ok" button.

In the meantime, I saved my program to my computer and burned it on a CD
using Roxio CD creator then took to a friends computer and tried it. It
worked fine through Windows Media player and the pictures are considerably
clearer than in my MM2 preview window.

Perhaps that's the easiest thing for me to do in the future and just forget
about burning to CD from MM2.

Again, many thanks. I will continue to visit your web site as there is much
to be learned from it.

Hello again,

Have you checked the points made in my previous post about the OK button and so
on...I think you will find the answer in my last message.

My bad. No, I'm sorry, but I read the first part and didn't scroll down.
When I found this message from you, I searched the entire forum for "ok
button" and much to my embarrassment, there it was in your post, as you said.

I've since printed out your comments and will attempt to again install
FixIt. Howver, yes, I did get thru the part where I had to choose the drive I
was enabling and it was confirmed I had the right one by reading the text
directly above the burgandy box (this is a R RW drive) and double checked
when I checked the other drive and it indicated it was "read only" drive.

I'll be back to let you know the outcome of my 3rd attempt at installing it.
Thanks again John.

Hello there,

The software MMFix-It does not need to be installed. It is a use it once and
throw it away program....you should never need to use it again...
