Windows 2000 SP4

384 Meg RAM

I am trying to install a program (Adobe Acrobat Reader V. 4) from CD. When I
run Setup.exe, I get the following error message:

"Access to the specified device, path or file is denied."

When I tried to close that information window, I got this message:

"Windows could not run the installation program. You may be out of memory.
Close some files or programs, and then try again."

I was only using 282 meg out of 384 at the time. I ran EndItAll (utility
that kills all running programs and services that are not absolutely
necessary for Windows), then tried the install again. Same problem.

I then put in the Office 2000 installation disk and setup worked fine.

This is really weird. I know for a fact that the Adobe disk works because I
have installed it several times under Windows 2000.

I tried to install it on my laptop, with the same result.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.
