If this is the wrong group for this question I apoligize in advance.
I am looking for a newsgoup that relates to cd rw's.
I want to know how to save a file so that it can be editing after it
is saved or transferred.
I saved some files and when I tried to edit them and resave I get
amessage that they are read only. How can I prevent this from
happening in the future. I want to save them and be able to edit them
the same way as on the hard drive or flopp and save them with the same
file name.
Thank you. Again if this is the wrong group can someone lead me a
group that covers this problem..

What software are you using to burn the cd's? To be able to save and edit
files on a cd/rw the cd/rw is usually formatted using UDF format. This
effectively allows you to use the cd/rw the same as you would a your hard
drive or a floppy disk. I use Roxio InCD software to achieve this, although
Nero also do a similar application. All you need do is format the cd/rw
using InCD or Nero's equivalent and then drag and drop the files to the
cd/rw. They can then be stored, edited, copied, renamed and deleted.

Thanks for the quick repsonse.
I am using Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator v 6.2.0.110
I also use Memorex and Maxell formatted cd's.
Should I reformat them and then use them as you suggested?
Thank you.

....or just copy them off the CD to your hd, right click..Properties, uncheck
Read Only.
