Cd ejects

Not sure if this is the correct forum.

I need to reformat my hardrive but when I insert the Win XP CD after about 5
seconds it ejects it, also doing this with other CDS as well, I tried
putting in a Cd that cleans the head but this also gets ejected. Tried also
from safe mode but just the same.Also rebooted a couple of times but no
change.

Can anyone give me advice on what to do.

Its not ideal.

What happens if you are in the bios when you insert the CD ?

Does it still eject then ?

Can you get a different CD drive to test with? I would
say it likely is the CD drive, but it could also be a different
problem.

I am looking at that Arno, however my son is back home in a week so I might
just let him sort it as I am likely to mess it further.
