I have two questions

1) Why does a question I posted on the Windows XP General News Group fail to
appear as posted?

2) Is there a way to eject a CD from the drive when the Program under which
it is running fails to do so?

when does the cd failed to eject ?????????? if a prgram runing or it
reading or writing the cd it WILL not eject

Bernie, you can create a shortcut on the desktop to eject the CD.

Click Start, double click My Computer, right click on the CD drive and click
Create Shortcut,

It will tell you it can create a shortcut on the desktop, click Yes.

Back at the desktop, double click the CD Icon and select Eject.

Cd not ejecting is a XP problem shared by many users. I have heard it is
caused by the cdrw software (it happens more with cdrw disks) . Sometimes
reinstalling the mentioned software fixes it and sometimes ejection from My
Computer / cd drive works better. Jym

If it really won't come out by pressing the button or using the software,
there's a small circular hole in the front of the CD unit. Unfold a
paperclip and push it in - straight - until it pushes hard against a metal
bar inside that moves. Push hard until the drawer unlocks and opens a bit
then pull the drawer open by hand. Words with LS-120 too

i think ur computers are crap, lol. i never had that problem, EVER. sometimes while the read/write light is on, i fails to eject, so i hold down the eject button for about 5 or 6 seconds straight and it always works. if all else fail, ctrl+alt+del, shutdown the comp, then use a long saftey pin in the tiny hole to eject the cd manually. if u ever have a case where u cannot get the cd out of the drive, BUY A NEW COMPUTER

no offence intende, just joking around.

Would you buy a new car simply because you had a flat tyre?

I think there is something amiss here. 50min ago I sent a response to a
post. That did not appear and I sent a duplicate some 10min ago. So far
still no show. That was a reply to "neal"'s "no safe mode" sent yesterday.
Odd.

Odd.

After hours of ferreting around, it turned out that the no-showing anomaly
was my own making. Problem solved: I deleted the entire downloaded messages
and headers of this NG, reset it and started afresh.

By the way, Bernie, don't close the tray with your finger, always use the
button, if you have not been doing so.
