Have a look in the Device manager and see if it is there or malfunctioning
and you can Remove then Restart your computer, windows will detect it and
install it for you.

Hi Nass, strange thing, I guess I should hve tred first, but when I removed
the disc and resetarted the pc the drive was back....when I put the DVD back
in for some reason the drive disappears...any advise with this strange thing

Right click My Computer and select Properties , then click Hardware Tab.
On Hardware Tab click Device Manager and expand your CD-ROM and remove your
CD from the Device Manger and Reboot, windows will detect the CD-ROM and
install it for you.
HTH.
Let us know.

Hi Nass, you are clever, thanks for your help, have not used this site
before, but will definately be back if I have any other problems
Thanks again

Hi my computer also doesn't detect either my CD or DVD drive, so I've tried
un- installing them and rebooting my computer. Upon rebooting it tells me
new hardware has been detected for both, yet the plug and play stuff still
doesn't take care of my problem and I therfore have a huinch it is the plug
and play function that has been corrupted.

Any ideas on how to solve this issue?
