Hi,
I have a Dell Dimension 2400 PC. (XP Home)

A while back the icon for the dive just disappeared from the system.

I assumed the drive had reached the end of its time!! And went and
bought a replacement.
It wont seem to install correctly either.
Its a Samsung SH-S202H (New one, the original one was a Samsung
SM-348)

In the BIOS setup it recognises the drive but says its not installed.

So i'm kinda guessing i'm doing something wrong when trying to install
it. I've been on the Samsung website trying to download anything I can
but it still wont recognise it.

Does anyone have any Ideas?

Thanks,

Niall.

Have you partitioned and formatted it yet?

The OP is not talking about a hadr drive. They are asking about a DVD/
CD drive, which does not require partitioning before use.

JEEEZ, that's pulling a real Homer. Thanks for the slap upside whatever, hopefully
I didn't do a post swap.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I tried that registry thing,
Still no luck though.

I cant even reinstall, or recover windows. Apparently Dell has a
system recovery tool (CTRL + F11) but that wont even work.

Any more ideas?
Thanks,

Niall.
