CD/DVD-ROM Drives Not Recognized

I installed Vista Beta 2 Build 5384 on my computer last night, and now both
of my two CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives aren't working! They're showing up in the
Device Manager, but not in My Computer. They're also not running any of the
discs I insert. In the Device Manager, it says:

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be
corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

The Check for Solutions button will not work since I can't connect to the
internet yet (my WiFi receiver's driver is also not working, so I need to
reinstall it... only I can't, since the optical drives aren't working). I'm
currently on another computer. Also, when I click on the Update Driver
button, it gives me this message:

"Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your
device. There was a problem installing this hardware: CD-ROM Drive"

I tried unplugging the drives, turning on my computer, restarting, and
turning back off my computer and plugging them in again, but nothing happened.

Any help would be great, since I can't access the internet on that computer
or read discs. I was going to do an OS reinstall, until I remembered that I
can't read discs...

Thanks in advance for any help!

This solution worked for me. I have a Pioneer DVDROM and Memorex 16x DL DVD
RW. Upon restart the devices were recognized and appeared in what used to be
"My computer"...now named "computer". Thanks for posting the fix.

It worked for me until I loaded Slysoft's AnyDvd onto my machine. It adds
another file to the Lower Filters, and then the drives do not work & the
software fails to load.

Any ideas on how to modify the registry to resolve?
