About a month ago I uninstalled a third-party CD Burning program, little did
I know at the time it would also delete the driver for my removable storage
device. After some deliberation I got driver reinstalled and all seemed to be
okay except as far as putting a CD in and having it read the contents or open
any programs, etc. but WMP 10 still "could not detect a device" if I wanted
to burn music. I then reinstalled Nero Express, (Nero 6.0.x -whatever) and
tried to burn an MP3 CD, only 1 song burned to the CD and nothing else
(although no Nero indicated that burning was successful and no other error
messasges), - fast forward to today...I was defragging my HDs & happened to
glance down to Storage container of the console tree & saw that my
player/burner is not a sub-category of "Media" but rather, it is listed under
"Libraries". I have a gut feeling that this is not correct because, if
memory serves me correct, it's always been under the "Media"
container....Please help me return it to it's rightful owner, so to speak!?!?!
ACK!

In WMP,click tools,options,hardware tab,add the hardware.You could/should,
open device mgr, scroll to the hardware, expand the tree,R.click the hardware,
select,uninstall.From thier,restart computer,xp reinstalls at start
up,or,shut down,
power off, move the cd to another IDE connection, change jumper pins as needed,
power up computer. You dont mention brand, liteonit usually has firmware
updates, others might, chk the mfg web site.

An empty CD/DVD drive will be listed only under Libraries,
insert a disk and it will be visible in Media.
