I rarely use my cd/dvd. I'm getting the message code 37, Windows cannot
initialize the device driver for this hardware. I tried to uninstall and
reinstall the drivers but nothing, updated, rollback the driver, followed the
troubleshooting instructions, rebooted a hundred times. Even bought a new one
and it still will not play.UGHHHH

Cal Bear '66,
The fix below refers to just converting to Vista -- my CD/DVD driver won't
load for code 37. Vista was on this Gateway laptop when I bought it and I
have not installed any new hardware/software. One forum entry somewhere
mentioned iTunes but I've been using that for over a year with not problems.
Would it suddently cause one?

Thanks, Janis

Did you look to see if you have the upper and/or lower filters?

If so delete them.

Perhaps an upgrade to iTunes caused the problem. (Also can be caused by Nero.)
