I, like many other posters here, am having problems writing to CD/DVD on two
different computers; one running XP PROw/ SP3 and one running XP Media
Edition w/ SP3.

I have applied several recent Microsoft CD/DVD fixes but still have problems.

I can cold boot up; write JPG's to the CD (using WINDOWS EXPLORER utility)
on both computers BUT the files don't show up on the CD's on either computer
and are not accessible on the CD. HOWEVER, I can then take the CD to the
other computer and the files DO show up on the CD and are accessible.

And if I then cold REBOOT, the CD's are then readible and the files are
there on the computer where the writing was done.

However, once I write more data to another CD the whole process starts anew.

Any suggestions/comments appreciated.

I had the same problem for months. Took my PC to a repair shop and they
couldn't figure it out.

I found Doug Knox's site:
http://www.dougknox.com/
He's a Microsoft MVP.

I used the script - Restore CD/DVD Drives to Explorer
(look in WinXP fixes)

or

http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_cd_dvd_fix.htm

It fixed my PC right away.
