My Sony CDRW/DVD CRX830E recently just stopped working. I have tried to
uninstall and reinstall. Didn't help.

I initially had an error messange in the device manager that was termed a
CODE 40. I have no idea what that means but maybe it is a helpful bit of
info to someone.

After uninstalling and reinstalling the error message is now a CODE 19 that
reads "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration
information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

Any suggestions on how to proceed? Thanks.

Thank you for the information and it immediately cleared up the problem.
However I had some difficulty figuring out how to "Start Registry Editor
(Regedt32.exe" which is described as the first step in fixing the problem.
