Hi. My husband has a Toshiba satellite a45-S120 laptop, about 2 years
old. It was really slow and the hard drive (or fan?) was making a lot of
noise and bothered him. I used the original disks and completely
reinstalled windows-xp, and all the initial applications that it was
loaded up with. Well, of course, all those programs that he doesn't use
were coming on at startup and it was still running very slowly. So I
used Easy Cleaner, an amazing program that tells you in English what is
running at startup. I turned off what I thought he didn't need. Now,
when you put a cd in the drive, the drive just spins and it won't auto
install anything like it used to, and I can't open it from explorer
either. I checked device manager and there are no yellow exclamation
points. I think I must have turned off something we need on startup.

Is there a list of what is necessary to run?

The drive worked fine a few days ago, or I couldn't have reinstalled
windows-xp. Any ideas about what I should do?

Hope I explained this well and gave enough info! Thanks!!

Nevermind.

I searched thru old messages and found a link here that seems to have
helped. It's working now.
