TO use my CD/DVD drive, everytime i want to use it,I need to go into device
manager and hit scan for hardware changes, then it shows up and works
fine.Did this in Beta 1,does it in final release. Any fixes for it?

I have had this problem as well, and it drives me insane! I've never found anyone else who mentions this specific issue; it seems people most commonly find their drive stops working after a certain time (implying it worked at some point)

I've tried all the various suggestions (removing the upper/lower limit entries in the Registry, etc) with no luck. There are no manufacturer specific drivers to update my drive (Plextor 740A) and I've recently updated my VIA K400 drivers as well. No luck at all.

Mine disappears too.
People have told me to try re-installing the driver(s) but when I do, Vista
tells me the right driver is already installed. Even if I go ahead & override
this & install drivers again, the drive keeps disappearing.
Thanks to your post though, I will try scanning for hardware changes. The
only way I've been able to get my cdrom back is to restart Windows & hope
it's there. Sometimes it is.
