Okay, I am having a problem with my DVD/CD-ROM on my laptop. When I put a
DVD-ROM in the drive it works just fine, no skipping or freezing or anything
such as that, but when I put in an audio CD or a game or even a blank CD, it
doesn't do anything. I checked the driver through My Computer and it doesn't
pick up that anything is in the driver. I checked the hardware and it says
that it is working properly yet it doesn't work. Any help?

Err, edit - "DVD in the drive"

I'm not sure if this will solve your problem, but it's worth a try. Open My
Computer and right click on your DVD drive icon. Click on Properties. If
you have a "Recording" Tab listed, click on it and check the box "Enable CD
recording on this drive" under the Desktop CD recording label. Hope this
helps ya.

--ummm i nver had a problem like dat before sry.....

Was already checked, besides, how does the recording settings have anything
to do with playing a game or even having issues with a blank disk not showing
up in the drive folder.

see if you can update the firmware of the device.

FWIW, CD side and DVD side use separate lasers. Ther CD one could have
failed while the DVD one is still operational.
