When I try to install anything, including the software that came with my new
8x cd-dvd burner (nu tech ddw-081), I get the message "install.exe is not a
valid win32 application." I can open some things on the CD like the readme
file.
I tried to put my old burner back in, but while it's picked up in bios, it
doesn't see anything on the CD, which is why I got rid of it.
I have tried formatting the drive several times and reinstalling XP. I even
used a trial version of a drive scrubber to make sure there was nothing left
on the hd that could be fouling things up (I read something about a virus
causing problems like this).
Still, nothing works. I ruled out it being something specific to the CD Rom
drive since the old one doesn't work either. Also, I booted off the new
CD-DVD burner to reinstall XP so I know it works outside of XP. I've also
tried changing out the IDE cables.
Anyone have suggestions on what could be wrong?
Thanks,
Ron
