CD drives won't read old disks

Just got a new computer and it has XP home, SP2.

I have a bunch of CD's that contain data that I archived from my old
computer running ME. XP will read the disks and I can see all the
files in explorer, but when I try to copy a file to my hard drive, XP
tells me the files are corrupt. These are WAV files, by the way.

I can take the same disk to my old computer and it reads them just
fine. I can click on each file, and they play just fine.

Why isn't XP reading the files? Is there a setting that I need to
change?

Were the files written with some particular software (packet writing like
InCD or Roxio)?
If so - do you have the same software on the new machine?
Or - can you FINALIZE the CD on the old machine?

Try using a program called ISOBUSTER to read the CDs and copy files from
them. It can read a CD (or DVD) in ways that Windows can not. It can also
read them using the Windsows routines. Read the help to learn how to change
the mode of reading.

ISOBUSTER is a both freeware and shareware. The functions you need should
be in the freeware portion.

If the advice you have gotten does not work...
you could network your two machines and copy the files over
