I recently reinstalled windows XP, and for some reason, I cannot install the
generic windows XP CD driver. I have a Samsung CDRW SW-240B and a Samsung
DVD-ROM SD-616T. Neither of them come with a specific driver, they just use
the default windows one.
The driver I need does come up in add new hardware wizard as being
compatible, but when I try and install it, I get the error message:

"Driver is corrupt or missing".

Any help would be most appreciated.

Try this, put your XP CD into the CD drive » let it spin up and hit "exit" » open Run » type "sfc /scannow" » press ok » sit back and get ready to press "retry".

To read an explanation of what this does open "help & support" and type "sfc".

Thanks very much for your help. That fix fixed it.
Unfortunately I couldn't replace the files that sfc found were missing
because without the drivers, it wouldn't say the cd drives existed.

Thanks for your help any way.
