My CD drive will read a CD that contains files but not one that contains music. I am running OS Win XP; Win Media Player 9
 
Is your WMP9 set in options to play audio cd's and mp3 files ? Jym

Do you have sound other than playing a music cd? Have you checked your
soundcard software utilities ajustments? Is there any problems markers in
the Device Manager relating to the cd player or sound? I presume the cd
player worked in the past , what happen and when did it stopped playing
cd's? Jym
