I have recently bought a new Lite-On 52x32x52 Cd writer. I am very pleased
with it wrigint at low speeds although I have found it will crash Easy CD
Creator 6 half way through the burning process, especially at higher speeds,
wasting the cd. I have a feeling it could be the program, although since it
is updated I am considering the possibility that it might be my media. My
current lot of cds I bought from John Lewis (100pk of 80min cds) although I
cannot remember the make or the speed. If it is the media, does anyone know
which brand or speed they might be? Unfortunatly they are mirror top cds so
I have no idea about the brand or speed. They seemed like great value at the
time because they would have cost £25 although JL had a £10 voucher if you
spend over £20 which made them a bargain. Any suggestion as to brands of
reliable media would be welcome.

Failing this, does anyone know of any problems I could be experiencing with
the drive itself or ECD6? Having updated to the latest version I doubt it
could be a problem and I have checked that it supports my drive.

Many thanks in advance!

All I can say is I have two Liteon 52x burners though they arent the
model you have. They upped the rewrite specs on them and have a new
model out. Mine is the 52246s. Never had any problems like that on my
32x liteons either or 24x.

You might try upgrading the firmware on it if there is such a
widespread problem in the hardware they would have fixed by now.

The obvious way to test is to buy a small pack of disks and try it
with another brand. However Ive never had any major problems with CDR
media - Memorex, Khypermedia, Truvalue, Fuji, Sony, etc etc. Anything
on sale. Fujis made in Japan of course are thought to be particularly
good because they are made by Taiyo Yuden. You might find TYs selling
under their name at a shop.

Also dont have a problem with EZCD 6 but anything is possible. You see
all sorts of quirky problems with various systems and various combos
of software and hardware.

The other obvious thing is to try it with another system and see if it
does it - then you know its your system or your CD burner.

I bought one of these drives a month ago and am completely satisfied with it. I use Nero express which came with it. I bought TDK CDRs, which is one of the brands that Lite-On recommends. I can burn CDs and read them perfectly in my old CDROM drive and any audio CD player I have tried. The main reason I replace my old CDRW was that I was having a lot of problems reading the newer CDR media in those drives. One thing that I like about Nero is it can use system memory as a buffer to supplement the relatively small buffer in the drive. I haven't use EZ CD Creator since version 3, which was the worst software I ever paid money for.
