My computer hardware shows that both CD drives are working
properly, but when I put in a CD I get a message that the
drive is not accessible. I have reformated my computer
and was able to install all my programs using the CD
drive. Now that I am all done, when I go to enter a new
program, I get the message. This is very strange. As
this is the 2nd time I am dealing with this. The first
time was after downloading updates from Windows. I
believe there were some service packs that were causing
the problem. This last time I reformated, I did not
download the service packs. I don't understand why the
drives work fine one day and then stop the next.

Generally this occurs when a mixture of CD burning software is
installed. Some of those drivers tend to conflict. Also sometimes when
you uninstall one it may not remove all of its drivers and when you
install a different one there is a conflict. After the problem has
occured about the only way to resolve it is figure out what driver it is
and manually remove it from the registry.
