cd drive wont stay closed

I have a possessed cd drive.

I put a cd in it and close it, the light come on, and then the cd door comes
back open by itself. This keeps happening.
It is TDK, win-98 machine.

Do I have hardware problem you think?

Assuming this happens with *any* CD in the drive, I'm thinking that
the drive doesn't ~completely~ close. Try nudging the tray in after it
has 'closed'. Of course, in that case you might have problems with
it opening again.

Boot into a bare system floppy...then see if it does it.

Always did this?...or just recently?
