I have a Dell 8200 W/XP Pro Has worked just fine Last
night I put a CD in my CD-RW it wouldnt read it. Tried my
DVD it wouldn't work either. Replaced IDE Cable no help,
Switched IDE port to see if that was the problem no help
Bolth my ZIP and Hard drive still worked fine The only way
I can get either drive to work is if the CD is in the
computer and I restart it. Then it will work normaly
until I Eject it. I have tried reinstalling drivers and
even repairing my OS I am running out of ideas Would a bad
CD-RW cause the DVD not to work ???

Please any help would be apreseated

Are the DVD drive and the CDRW drives both on the same
cable and IDE channel?

It sounds like you have your hard drive/Zip on one
channel, and your DVD/CDRW drive on the other.

If that's the case, I would try taking the drives off the
bus (one at a time), jumpering them as the master and
trying it again individually. That should help narrow down
the problem. Especially since you've ruled out the
possibility of an IDE channel going bad on the 8200.
