Hello,
I bought Microsoft's Vista Customer Preview Program. I bought it over the
Internet and installed it on my fairly new Compaq laptop. After the
installation was over I started reusing the laptop and found out that my CD
drive was not
working for some reason. Not only could I not read CD's but also the Burner
also didn't work. The system was also "blacking out" and running
abnormally slow for the system when I had it running on Windows XP
Professional. I was wondering whether I should uninstall or reinstall the
software and if so than how to. I emailed on microsoft.com before and was
told
to call this number: 866-234-6020. I called that number and was told
that I should write to this address. Whenever I use Microsoft Office it has
to reinstall. My System also goes super S-L-O-W! I would really appreciate
someones
help. I can not do anything on my computer without difficulty. PLESE HELP
ME!

Well, where do we start.

First of all, you clicked on a button that said you agreed to this:

"This is pre-release (beta) software distributed for trial and testing
purposes only. Microsoft does not provide technical support for beta
releases."

The words "trial and testing purposes" means that you aren't supposed to put
a beta operating system on a computer that you rely on.

If this is a computer you rely upon, called a "production system," the best
advise you can get is to reinstall the original operating system that came
with your computer and find another computer to test Vista. If this Compaq
laptop is a testing system, I suggest you reformat the hard drive and
reinstall Vista.
