I installed a DVD drive and now my CD drive does not show up in the device list. I have 2 hard drives on IDE 1 and a new DVD drive and the old CD drive on IDE2. The DVD is set as master and the CD ROM as the slave. When I restarted the computer the DVD drive shows up as drive E but the CD ROM drive does not show up at all. I looked in control panel/system/hardware manager and there it is. But for some reason XP is not showing it in the device list. Anyone have a clue why not or how I get it to show up? I tried the troubleshooter but nada

I have not tried deleting it from the configuration and then rebooting it and let XP find it again. I just thought of that and will try that now and see what happens. If that fixes it I will update this post

Hi Barry,

Suggestion:

Save the file below to your hard drive. Navigate to where you saved it and
double click the file. A confirmation dialog will appear when the script is
done. You may need to reboot for the change to take effect.

Restore CD/DVD in Explorer
