cd drive non-responsive

My CD drive on my Toshiba Satellite P105 S921 is non-responsive -- it will
no longer open manually and does not show up in Explorer. This is a new
laptop.

What troubleshooting steps can I take ?

Contact your local Toshiba Service Center. Any home replacements will
